These Crack the Code Cards are perfect phonemic awareness practice for blending those tricky double consonant sounds together to spell and read simple words.
This Science of Reading (SoR) aligned resource teaches kindergartern and first grade children how map words by connecting the speech sounds (phonemes) to the letters or combination of letters (graphemes). Children simply work through each set of pictures identifying the beginning sound of each given image then use their phonemic blending skills to sound out or decode the word, blending the individual sounds to read and make or write the word.
They can build the words with magnetic letters or laminate the cards to write on. Your students can also use the included recording sheets to write down their answers which they can independently check their answers using the answer cards provided but you will also be able to double-check their skills after as well.
Perfect for independent practice in your small groups, literacy centers, reading groups or Daily 5 Word Work.
